Left Hand Black

Left Hand Black
“Left Hand Black”
(3-track CD-R, recorded by Rick Duncan, Jason (bass), Ray (drums), Pascal (vocals), Dan (guitar), 13:44)

I am standing in the middle of an open field, my arms outstretched, with Left Hand Black’s “Bite” streaming through the plugs at maximum pain thresh. Its sonic abrasions ripping away at all the braingrime that’s been clogging my synapses, I have the band’s aggro-core assault to thank for dislodging those unused hunks of grey matter. Aiming for a more visceral edge, LHB hike the amperage for a penetrative, percussive vision. While Jason and Dan’s string things are geared towards flattened, “biting” tones, Ray’s triple-time trap work is exhaustive, leaving Ray’s heaving and hurling for the challenging lyrical matters. Maybe dense and harsh to such extremes that this occasionally crosses paths with the black metal arts, LHB won’t be mistaken for any rap metal act that I know. They’re just too into their own thing to be distracted by fame.
