The debut clump from this LA-based trio is an interesting overview on the State of the Pop: 2000's Corporate Mix. Mellifluous acoustic strains borrowed liberally from Matchbox 20. The massive, chiming arena-drone of the Goo Goo Dolls. Some of Collective Soul's chumpy dramatics. While pushing guitarist Jason Wade's plaintive/loner persona to the hilt, it'd be an easy mark for the programmers to grab a quick round of airplay. Whether anointing the emphatic, catchy vibe of "Hanging By A Moment," the Verve Pipe-like fatalism of "Breathing," or even the switch-speed power balladry of "Quasimodo" to infest your listening pile for the next few months, it's apparent that ultra-polished, producer pop is still the intoxicant-of-choice among the A&R ranks.
