Ironic Daze

Ironic Daze
5-track demo
(No Information Included)

A grab bag of rock styles from Ironic Daze, who benefit greatly from a new vocalist and a sonic shift away from their former, dated identity. The groovy acid-rock of ‘Kindergarten’ suffers on account of some seriously childish lyrics, but that’s probably the point. ‘Small Fry’, fast and melodic, stands way, way out. The last three tunes, ‘Privacy’, ‘Name and Number’, and ‘Blindspot’, all share mid-tempos and big, big open-chorded choruses, calling to mind some of the better grunge bands. In fact, what ties these five fine songs together is a vibe reminiscent of Ten-era Pearl Jam; not in a shitty Creed way, but in a rocking, celebratory way. The production is clean, if a little quiet. I wish I could remember what the new singer’s name is (no band information was included with the disc), so I could give proper praise. The guy smokes. All in all, this one provides better than average angsty modern rock. Cheers.
