Ever since the music video channels decided to diversify in favor of teen pop, cartoons and true life stories, access to the cathodes has led to some odd mutations. Maybe none more enterprising than the work of actor/Society 1 vocalist Matt Zane, who’s parlayed his skills behind the camera, directing a series of vid rock documentaries featuring your fave bludgeoners. While the third edition of Loud Times features Slipknot slipping into costume, Korn’s Jonathan Davis waxing esoterically spaced, and S.O.D. always offending the masses, there are, however, a few more dramatic, Shakespearian moments to consider. Like Crowbar’s Kirk trashing a dressing room. The second installment of Backstage Pass caters to raunchier extremes, with pierce goddess Gen of The Genitorturers holding court, while Papa Roach, Dope and Pimpadelic “entertain” their adoring fans. –ml kilgore (Inzane Records)
