Insane Clown Posse
Bizaar,
Bizzar,
Twiztid Freek Show
Wow, who’d be demented enough to release three albums during the holiday season? Did Strummer die in vain, didn’t we learn anything from The Clash? Oh yeah, I almost forgot about THEM. The jerky opportunists that found their hateful, misogynist vomit really rakes ‘em in at the middle schools. Since most writers are automatically disqualified from reviewing Clownphobia on merit (rhymes with schmerit), they’re reduced to social theory. Here’s mine: You’re only mad because you didn’t think of it first. Granted ICP ain’t Coltrane, but John wasn’t making music for pubescent white boys. However, we continue to cite John, while the looming future for the Clowns is a dollar sale at some hayseed flea market. Actually, their buddy Twiztid is a little more sufferable, substituting a demonic/gorehound persona instead of puking ICP’s bitch-slappin’ verbiage. His doomy reshaping of The Doors’ “People Are Strange” is a little leaden (and frankly, all of ICP’s work sounds like its behind the beat), but his luvable zombiesque character gets a lot of mileage out of whimsical tracks like “We Don’t Die” and “Wut The Dead Like.” –peter moore (Psychopathic Records/Island Def Jam)
