Raise

Raise
Hell Not Dead Yet
Ditching their previous name (In Cold Blood) was only the initial housecleaning for these youthful, insightful Swedes. Having grown bored with the severity of the Scandanavian death metal arena, Raise Hell borrow some technical flourishes and power surges from the archives, enlightening the aggros to the potential of melodic roadkill. While underground scribes have been slavering to anoint them as the next wave of European Thrash, Not Dead Yet is nearly a mixed-media presentation- partly polished, partly primal- that may cause a few middle-aged metal heads to smirk in acknowledgment of their devilish frenzy. Imaging a band with the creativity of Fates Warning, the skullduggery of Samson, and the omnipotence of mid-period Slayer (where the stamina of "Soulcollector" here becomes apparent), and then sense the buzz about these Stockholm shockers. Near the edge. -chip edwards (Nuclear Blast, P.O. Box 43618, Philadelphia, PA)
